Description of Florida/ Orlando Area
Our holiday home is situated in Central Florida. It's not known as the Sunshine State by accident - it is perfect for holidays all year round!! Florida averages between 6 and 9 hours sunshine throughout the year, with average daily temperatures ranging from 18 degC in January to 30 degC in July.
What to do in the area - well were do you start!!!!! Probably the most famous enterainment area in the World is Walt Disney World Resort. This includes Magic Kingdom, Disney Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disney MGM Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and much more. Then there is Sea World, Universal Orlando and Wet'n'Wild.
You can go shopping in Orlanda, cruise the bars and restaraunts of International Drive or if you feel more adventurous, head to the space coast to the Kennedy Space Centre, Daytona Beach or Cocoa. To the west is Tampa, Clearwater, the world famous Busch Gardens or miles of uninterupted golden beaches.
A lot to fit into two weeks - so book three or return next year!!!
Local Activities
If you can't find enough to do at all the theme parks, Florida is a golfers paradise with a number of golf courses located with a short distance of Legacy Park. We can provide locations, costs etc on request.
Festivals and activities include "Bike week" racing at Daytona (March), rodeos at Kissimmee (July and Feb), Florida State Fair (Tampa in Feb), plus the numerous parades, fire work displays and festivals at the Disney complex.
If you like sport, you will find American Football in Tampa (September to January), baseball from March to October, ice hockey, horse racing, motor sport............
The community has a swimming pool plus walking and jogging trails and a childrens play area.
How to get there
From the UK, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have scheduled flights to Orlando International airport (voted Americas number one airport) from Londons Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Numerous charter flights to Orlando and Sanford are available from UK regional airports (Manchester, Prestwick etc)
Getting from Orlando airport to our accommodation; which is approximately a distance of 50km, should cost in the region of $90-$100 for a taxi. Shuttlebuses and Lynx buses are also available to Walt Disney world, International Drive etc.
Numerous car rental companies operate out of the airpoirts (all you need to rent a car is your drivers licence, passport and a credit card). Contact us for rental companies details if required.
The Towns of Legacy Park is situated on US 27 between I-4 and 192 in Davenport. Further directions are available at time of booking.
